Overview

The NIL Marketplace concept explores how fan support can become a repeatable mobile product experience.

Instead of building a simple digital collectibles marketplace, we designed an end-to-end fan economy: users can discover athletes, evaluate performance, buy Fan Passes, unlock supporter-only content, store their passes in a personal Vault, and build squads to earn loyalty rewards.

The result is a high-fidelity prototype that makes a complex sports fintech idea easy to understand, demonstrate, and validate.

The NIL Marketplace was built around a focused market opportunity: women’s collegiate sports.

Volleyball, basketball, and soccer represent highly engaged fan communities with strong digital behavior and growing attention across the NCAA ecosystem.

The product concept explored how a mobile-first marketplace could help close that gap by turning fan support into direct athlete funding, exclusive content access, and repeat engagement.
Create a platform where fans do not just follow athletes — they actively support them, collect their Fan Passes, unlock exclusive utility, and build long-term loyalty around the teams and conferences they care about.

The goal was to create a product experience where fan support does not end at the transaction. Every purchase becomes part of a broader loyalty loop: ownership, content, community, and rewards.

Clear purchase motivation
Fans need a clear reason to support an athlete, a simple way to purchase, and a meaningful reason to return after checkout.
Post-purchase retention
The challenge was to combine athlete discovery, sports statistics, mobile payments, digital ownership, exclusive content, and loyalty mechanics into one clear mobile-first experience.

The prototype was structured around a 5-stage fan conversion funnel:

Discover — Fans browse athletes by sport and conference.

Evaluate — Athlete profiles show performance stats, community signals, and available perks.

Buy — A mobile-first purchase flow makes Fan Pass checkout simple and intentional.

Unlock — Fan Pass holders access exclusive content, galleries, events, and community experiences.

Retain — Purchased passes move into My Vault, where fans build squads and earn loyalty rewards.

Key Product Features

Marketplace discovery
Athlete cards combine portrait imagery, live status, performance stats, team identity, and Fan Pass pricing in USDC.
Athlete profiles
Profile screens give fans deeper context through stats, supporter communities, content tabs, and social features.
Mobile-first checkout
A tactile Slide to Buy interaction was designed to make the payment moment feel clear, deliberate, and native to mobile behavior.
My Vault
Every purchased Fan Pass is stored in a persistent Vault, creating a post-purchase home for content, ownership, and rewards.
Build Your Squad
Fans can assign collected athletes into squads and unlock loyalty bonuses for same-conference combinations.
Exclusive content
Fan Pass holders can access supporter-only videos, photo galleries, events, and community experiences.
